New rights for Part-Time Employees

Since July 2001, part-time employees have the right to many of the same benefits as full-time employees, unless the contrary can be objectively justified.

The Part-time Workers Regulations broadly seek to ensure that part-time workers are not treated less favourably than those on full-time contracts.  This gives part-timers the same rights in the following areas;-

hourly rate of pay
access to company pension schemes
annual/parental/maternity leave on a pro rata basis
contractual sick pay
access to training
