Since July 2001, part-time employees have the right to many of the same benefits as full-time employees, unless the contrary can be objectively justified.
The Part-time Workers Regulations broadly seek to ensure that part-time workers are not treated less favourably than those on full-time contracts. This gives part-timers the same rights in the following areas;-

| access to company pension schemes |
| annual/parental/maternity leave on a pro rata basis |
| contractual sick pay |
| access to training |
